What is the KIWI-OSD? |
The KIWI-OSD is a video time inserter. Placed between a NTSC or PAL video source and a monitor or video recorder, it superimposes a highly accurate time stamp on each video field. It also displays the longitude, latitude and elevation. |

What can the KIWI-OSD be used for? |
The primary purpose of the KIWI-OSD is to provide a way to time astronomical occultations. More information concerning occultations can be found on the International Occultation Timing Association (IOTA) webpage or visiting their Yahoo! Group. |

Will I have to purchase anything else to use the KIWI-OSD? |
The only item that is not supplied is a power source, but we offer an A/C adapter (wall transformer) along with other optional items such as power cords, cable converters, etc. on the products page. |

What kind of video source/recorders does the KIWI-OSD work with? |

What about other models of GPS units? |
Due to problems associated with GPS units other than the Garmin 18 LVC, PFD Systems no longer supports the KIWI-OSD with other makes and models of GPSs. |

How much power does the KIWI-OSD require? |
The KIWI-OSD operates with an input voltage between 9V and 15V. It has an on-board regulator. It draws ~15ma of current without a GPS and ~70ma with a Garmin 18 LVC GPS attached. |

There is a DB9 connector on the KIWI-OSD, does it require a computer? |
Although there is a DB9 (serial port) cable on the KIWI-OSD, it does not require the use of a computer. The DB9 is a serial pass-thru. Its use is optional for those who might wish to use the GPS for something other than occultations or science. |
