What is the Booster? |
StarParty consists of a Palm application program (StarParty.prc) but requires the use of a runtime library, the Appforge Booster. The AppForge Booster must be installed on handheld devices in order to run applications developed with the AppForge MobileVB software. StarParty was developed using this product. Without this library, StarParty will not work. !!!!! NOTICE !!!!! The free Booster can no longer be downloaded from Appforge. Instead, you can download it from PFD Systems by clicking here. |
|
Why are there different version of the Booster? |
Appforge now distributes versions of the Booster specific to different models of PDAs. As newer versions of PDAs become available, the runtime "Booster" libraries are updated to reflect the new capabilities. StarParty was originally created to use version 2 of the Booster, but now requires version 5. |
|
Why does the Booster take up so much memory? |
Although it does seem that the Booster takes up a lot of memory, as you download other applications that were developed using Appforge, you will only need one copy of the Booster installed and all the applications will share the Booster. |
|
Which Booster should I use? |
StarParty requires version 5.0 or above of the Booster . Previous versions of the Booster will not run with the latest version of StarParty. |
|
Where do I get a copy of the Booster? |
The free Booster is no longer available from the Appforge web site. Instead, please download it here. |

What is the best way to update to a new version of the Booster? |
If you do not have Version 5.0 or higher of the Booster you must update it. The build number (918, for example) is not important, just be sure the version is 5.0 or higher. |

How can I completely uninstall the Booster from my PDA? |
Once installed, the Booster actually consists of many components on your PDA. It is easy to remove them. The following steps are from the Appforge web-site: The AppForge Booster includes Booster.PRC and other optional PRC's that are installed to give additional functionality to an AppForge application. The optional PRC's have different Creator ID's from Booster.PRC, so that they can be deleted independently. However, they will not be deleted automatically when Booster.PRC is deleted. To completely remove Booster from your device, go to the applications screen, tap the menu key, select "App" and "Delete". To delete a file, tap the filename to select it, tap the "Delete" button at the bottom of the screen, and tap "Yes" to confirm. To remove Booster, you will need to delete the following:
You also should remove any of the following optional components, which may or may not be installed on your device:
The Booster is now completely removed. If you need to install another version, refer to the instructions above. |
|
Are all of the components of the Booster required? |
No. If you want to save a little space, you can delete the following components, if they were installed:
See the section above for instruction on how to remove the components. |
